Juz by Juz: Nuh and His Sons

Juz by Juz: Nuh and His Sons is an Islamic video for children aged 4 to 9 in which Sheikh Azhari and his children tell the Qur'an story of Prophet Nuh (AS), the ark he built and the great flood.

Nuh called his people to believe in Allah and listen to Him, and told them that if they did, Allah would give them good things: not only Jannah, but blessings in this life too. Most of them would not listen. They put their fingers in their ears so they would not have to hear him. The Sheikh makes the children try it, then offers chocolate cake to prove they can still hear.

Nuh built an ark, a huge ship, and the Sheikh tells the children it had three levels: animals at the bottom, people in the middle and birds at the top. Then the rain came, and it was not just a little rain. Nuh and the believers went into the ark. One of his sons, whom the Sheikh calls Yam, thought he could escape by going up a mountain, but the waves rose as high as mountains and covered everything. When the flood was over, the earth swallowed the water, the way we swallow our food, and everyone in the ark was saved.

The Sheikh's lesson is that when we help others and give in charity, Allah helps us and gives us more.

The children draw their favourite bird, the ark and their favourite food, and answer a quiz about how much of our tummy to fill when we eat, the prophet given a camel as a miracle and how many Eids there are in a year.

• Surah Hud 11:36-48: Nuh builds the ark, the believers board it, his son tries to shelter on a mountain and is drowned by waves like mountains, and the earth is told to swallow its water.
• Surah Nuh 71:7: Nuh's people put their fingers in their ears and cover themselves with their garments.
• Surah Nuh 71:10-12: Nuh tells his people to ask forgiveness, and Allah will send them rain and give them wealth and children.
