How can children learn to give?
Some titles are about giving what we have. A girl learns what zakat means and hunts for all her balls to give to other children, and another shares the apples from the tree she planted with her Baba, because whatever a person or a bird eats from it is charity. A farmer saves for Hajj all his life, but keeps giving his money to people in need.
Charity also belongs with the pillars of Islam and with Ramadan. Picture books teach zakat as one of the five pillars, and in the Ramadan titles, fasting children think of people who have little food.
In the Names of Allah videos, Sheikh Azhari and his children learn Al-Kareem, the Most Generous, with the story of Abu Bakr bringing all that he had, and the Tafseer of Surah Al-Ma'un teaches caring for orphans and feeding the poor. As a hadith in these titles says, "Charity does not decrease wealth."

What is zakat, and how can I explain it to a child?
Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam: Muslims who have enough saved give a fixed share of it each year to people in need. Any other giving is sadaqah. With a young child, start with sadaqah, like the girl in these stories who gives her own toys away.
How can young children give charity?
Children can share their toys and food, plant something that feeds birds and people, or help keep their street clean. The titles here show each of these as a real act of charity.
Does giving charity make us poorer?
