What is Alif to Qur'an Part 2 about?
Alif to Qur'an Part 2 is an Islamic video for children aged 4 to 9 that helps them learn the second half of the Arabic alphabet through recitation of the Qur'an, from the letter Zaa (ظ) to the letter Ya.
It follows the same pattern as Part 1. Each letter is shown and said, then comes an Arabic word that begins with it, then a recited verse of the Qur'an in which that word appears. The words are ones children can picture. 'Ayn is for 'ankabut, the spider, from the verse that says the spider's house is the weakest of houses. Ghayn is for ghanam, sheep, from the story of Dawud (AS) and Sulayman (AS) judging a case about a field. Qaaf is for qamar, the moon; Noon is for nahl, the bee, which Allah inspired to make its homes in the mountains and the trees; Haa is for hudhud, the hoopoe bird; and Ya is for yamm, the river where the baby Musa (AS) was placed.
By the end, children have met the rest of the alphabet, and have heard each letter in the words of Allah. Together with Part 1, the two videos cover the whole alphabet, from Alif to Ya.
The video is about 5 minutes long and music-free, a good length for a daily lesson, and worth watching more than once until the letters and words feel familiar.
What your child will learn
- Every Arabic letter has its own sound.
- Words from the Qur'an, like qamar (the moon) and nahl (the bee), begin with these letters.
- The Qur'an speaks of many of Allah's creatures, from spiders and bees to birds.
- Learning a little every day helps us on the way to reading the Qur'an.
