What is Al Wadud about?

Al Wadud is an Islamic video for children aged 4 to 6: a reassuring animated poem for children who feel things are not going well, about one of the beautiful names of Allah, Al-Wadud, the Loving One.

The boy in the poem is having a really terrible day. His brother snatches his train, and when he will not give it back, the boy slaps him and stamps on his toe. Now his brother is crying and the boy is in bed. His mum comes in, holds his hand, and together they pray for Allah to show him a better way. The boy says sorry, and there is a great big hug.

The next day is not much better. At playtime, when a boy called Tyler bites him, he bites back, and ends up on the thinking chair. This time it is his teacher who prays with him.

On the third day, something has changed. When Tyler takes his bricks, the boy asks nicely for them back, and they build a railway track together. He saves Tyler's place in the lunch queue, and they share all through playtime. At night, he thanks Al-Wadud for his lovely day.

The chorus sums it up: Al-Wadud, the Loving One, puts us right when we go wrong. The poem shows children that everyone gets things wrong sometimes, that saying sorry and praying for help can change things, and that Allah loves us always, every day. It is part of The Beautiful Names of Allah, a series of animated poems, and is music-free and a Miraj original.
