What is 25 Prophets about?
25 Prophets is an Islamic video for children aged 4 to 9: a short nasheed that sends blessings on the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and on every prophet Allah sent before him, and names the 25 prophets mentioned in the Qur'an.
The song opens with a line in Arabic, "As-salatu 'ala an-Nabi, wa as-salamu 'ala ar-Rasul, wal-anbiya il-mursalin, kulluhum mukramun", and then sings it in English: blessings on the Prophet, peace on the Messenger, and on the prophets who were sent, all of them honoured.
Then comes the list, sung in order, from Adam (AS), Idris (AS) and Nuh (AS), through Ibrahim (AS), Yusuf (AS), Musa (AS), Dawud (AS) and Yunus (AS), to Isa (AS), and last of all Muhammad ﷺ, the seal of the prophets. The names are sung in Arabic and then again in English. Along the way comes a short dua, "Nawwir qulubana ya Allah": light up our hearts, O Allah, like the heart of Your Messenger.
The tune is simple and the list repeats, so it is an easy way for young children to learn the prophets' names by heart, in the order the song gives them. It also teaches them that Muslims love and honour every prophet, not only the last one, and that sending blessings on the Prophet ﷺ is something they can do every day.
The video is music-free and lasts about 4 minutes.
