Who was Prophet Yaqub (AS)?
Yaqub was the son of Ishaq (AS) and the grandson of Ibrahim (AS), and the father of twelve sons. The older brothers were jealous of Yusuf, whom their father loved dearly. They threw him into a well and brought home his shirt with false blood on it. Yaqub knew they were not telling the truth, but he said, "Patience is most fitting," and put his trust in Allah.
Later he lost another son, who was kept behind in Egypt. Yaqub grieved so much that his eyes turned white, yet he said, "I only complain of my grief and sorrow to Allah," and told his sons never to give up hope of Allah's mercy. When the good news of Yusuf came, his sons asked him to pray for their forgiveness, and he said he would ask his Lord, the Forgiving, the Merciful.
In Juz by Juz: Yaqub and His Sons, Sheikh Azhari and his children tell the story with a drawing game and a quiz, and teach that whenever we do wrong, we can turn back to Allah. The audiobooks about Prophet Yusuf tell the whole of his story. The video's page lists the ayahs it comes from and questions to talk about together afterwards.
