Who was Prophet Yunus (AS)?
Allah sent Yunus (AS) to his people, but he left them in anger. He boarded a laden ship, lots were drawn, and he lost. A great fish swallowed him. In the darkness he called out, "There is no god but You, glory be to You; I have been among the wrongdoers." Allah answered him and saved him from his distress.
The fish cast him onto the shore, and Allah made a plant grow over him to shade him. When he went back, his people believed, and Allah lifted the punishment from them. It is a story of a hasty step, a sincere dua and Allah's mercy.
A Whale of a Wish tells the story in rhyme from the whale's point of view, as a picture book and as an audiobook. In Prophet Yunus and the Whale, also a picture book and a short audiobook, the whale is called Noon. Older children can listen to Yunus and the Giant Fish, a longer, fictionalised retelling of the Qur'an story.
