Prophet Harun (AS) stories for kids

1 title · Ages 4-9

Prophet Harun (AS) was the brother of Prophet Musa (AS), the helper Musa asked Allah for when he was sent to Fir'awn, and a prophet in his own right. These Miraj audiobooks and video tell the story of Musa's mission for children, with Harun at his side.

Who was Prophet Harun (AS)?

When Allah spoke to Musa at the burning bush and gave him two signs, the staff that became a snake and the hand that shone white, Musa asked Allah to send his brother Harun with him, because Harun spoke well and could back him up. Allah granted it, and the two of them went to Fir'awn together to call him to worship Allah alone and to let the Children of Israel go.

Fir'awn refused, and his magicians were beaten by Allah's signs and fell down in belief. Harun stood with Musa through the plagues and the night the sea parted for the Children of Israel. The Qur'an says Allah bestowed His favour on Musa and Harun and made them prophets together.

Juz by Juz: Allah and Musa, with Sheikh Azhari and his children, tells how Allah gave Musa his two miracles and sent the brothers to Fir'awn, for the youngest. Musa and the Pharaoh, parts one and two, tell the story at length for older children, from Musa's birth to the crossing of the sea. Each title's page gives its Qur'an and hadith sources and questions to talk about afterwards.

Frequently asked questions

Why did Prophet Musa (AS) ask for Prophet Harun (AS)?

Musa (AS) asked Allah to send his brother with him because Harun spoke more clearly and could confirm what he said. Allah answered that He would strengthen Musa through his brother (Surah Al-Qasas 28:34-35).

Was Prophet Harun (AS) a prophet?

Yes. The Qur'an names him a prophet and a messenger sent with Musa (AS) to Fir'awn, and remembers Allah's favour on both brothers (Surah As-Saffat 37:114-120).

What happened when Musa (AS) and Harun (AS) went to Fir'awn?

They called him to worship Allah and to free the Children of Israel. He refused and set his magicians against them, but Musa's staff swallowed their tricks and the magicians believed. The Musa and the Pharaoh audiobooks tell it in full.
