Who was Prophet Dawood (AS)?
King Talut led his army out to fight Jalut, and told them that Allah would test them at a river: they could take one scoop of water in the hand and no more. Most of them drank from it, and only a small band crossed with him. Facing the huge army, the firmest of them said, "How many a small company has overcome a large company by permission of Allah," and they prayed to Allah for patience. Dawood killed Jalut, and Allah gave him kingship and wisdom and taught him what He willed.
Allah gave Dawood the Zabur, a book He revealed to him, and commanded the mountains and the birds to glorify Him along with Dawood. Allah also made iron soft for him, so that he could make coats of armour. His son was the Prophet Sulayman (AS).
Dawood and the Giant tells the story in six chapters, with Dawood as a shepherd boy who keeps the wolves from his sheep with a sling. It adds details of its own to what the Qur'an tells, and its page lists the ayahs the story comes from, what your child will learn and questions to talk about together afterwards.
