What is Ahlan Kids: Let's Sing and Learn about?

Ahlan Kids: Let's Sing and Learn is an Islamic audiobook for children aged 4 to 9: a short collection of four songs, sung in Arabic and English, that puts an Arabic alphabet song beside familiar children's classics.

The collection opens with an original Arabic Alphabet Song. It sings through the letters of the Arabic alphabet in order, from alif, ba and ta onwards, and English lines invite children to sing along with it next time. For a child starting to learn the letters that the Qur'an is written in, it is a simple way to remember their order, and it is the kind of song that children keep singing long after it has finished.

Then come three songs that many families will know. Twinkle Twinkle Little Star is a favourite nursery rhyme. Tala al-Badru Alayna is the traditional song of welcome that, as the story is told, the people of Madinah sang when the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ arrived in their city. Brahms' Lullaby closes the collection with a gentle song for bedtime.

The whole collection lasts about eight minutes, so it fits easily into a car journey or the end of the day. Children can listen, learn the words and join in, and parents can use the alphabet song to practise the Arabic letters at home.
