What is Adam & Hawwa about?
Adam & Hawwa is an Islamic audiobook for children aged 7 to 9 that tells how Allah created the first man and woman, Adam (AS) and Hawwa, how Iblis tricked them into forgetting their promise, and how Allah forgave them.
Allah gathers dust of many colours, from the mountains, valleys, deserts and beaches, shapes it, and breathes spirit into it, and Adam comes to life praising Allah. His first lesson is to greet the angels with peace, and their reply becomes the greeting of all his children. Allah teaches him the names of all things, which even the angels do not know, and commands the angels to bow down to him, to honour him. They all obey except Iblis, a proud jinn made of fire, who says he is better than a creature made of clay, and is sent away.
Allah gives Adam a companion, Hawwa, and tells them they may eat anything in the garden except the fruit of one tree. But Shaytan whispers that its fruit will let them live forever. They forget Allah's command and eat, and at once they feel ashamed. They say sorry with all their hearts, and Allah forgives them. Then He sends them down to earth, where they must work, build and use their knowledge to make good choices, and where Adam becomes Allah's first prophet.
Told in three chapters by Edmund Dane, with touches of gentle humour, the story teaches children about Allah's gift of knowledge, the danger of pride, and Allah's mercy to anyone who turns back to Him. It is a Miraj original.
