Why do Muslims celebrate Eid al-Adha?
Eid al-Adha falls on the tenth day of Dhul-Hijjah, during Hajj, the day after pilgrims stand in dua at Arafat. Muslims go to the Eid prayer, and many offer the Qurbani sacrifice and share the meat. The day remembers Prophet Ibrahim (AS). He saw in a dream that he was sacrificing his son Ismail (AS), and his son said he would be patient. Allah ransomed him with a great sacrifice.

When is Eid al-Adha?

What is Qurbani?
Qurbani is the sacrifice of an animal, such as a sheep or goat, on Eid al-Adha and the days after it. It remembers the ram Allah sent in place of Ismail (AS), and the meat is shared with family, friends and people in need.
How do I tell a young child about Ibrahim's sacrifice?
