What is Bedtime with the Prickles: Toothbrushing about?
Bedtime with the Prickles: Toothbrushing is a learning game for children aged 4 to 9 in which they help a family of hedgehogs brush their teeth before bed.
It is bedtime in the Hedgehog House, and Mummy Hedgehog has a problem. The Prickles, her little hedgehogs, do not like brushing their teeth at all. Children step in to help, so that the Prickles get their teeth clean and are ready for bed.
Many young children do not like brushing their teeth either, and a game where they are the helper can make the evening routine easier. A child who has just helped the Prickles brush their teeth may be happier to pick up their own toothbrush.
It is also a good moment to talk about keeping clean as part of being a Muslim. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ cleaned his teeth with a siwak, a small stick used as a toothbrush, and encouraged Muslims to keep their mouths clean. Parents can play it just before their child's own bedtime, then brush their teeth together.
Bedtime with the Prickles: Toothbrushing is a Miraj original.
