What is Fun Words: Animals 2 about?
Fun Words: Animals 2 is an interactive word book for children aged 4 to 9 in which they discover more animals from around the world and learn their names in English, in Arabic, or in both.
It picks up where Fun Words: Animals leaves off, with a new set of animals. The cover sets off on safari: a lion with a shaggy mane, a long-necked giraffe, an elephant with its trunk in the air, a toucan with its bright beak and a crocodile peeping out of the water. These are the big, bold animals that children meet in picture books and at the zoo, now with their Arabic names too.
As in every Fun Words book, children choose English, Arabic or both. For each animal they listen to how its name is pronounced, then use the microphone to record themselves, play it back and compare. The more they listen and repeat, the more natural the new words become.
Learning animal names in two languages is an easy first step into Arabic, the language of the Qur'an, and it gives children words they can use straight away, naming the animals they see in books, on screen and outside.
Parents can make it a game: say a word in English and ask for it in Arabic, or record their own voices and see whose sounds closest. Fun Words is a Miraj original.
